The complexity of the India-Bangladesh border
From 1947 to 2015, India and Bangladesh (East Pakistan till 1971) had a very complex and confusing border. There were many enclaves and counter enclaves in both countries (of each other).
(Enclave of a country/state is that territory that is completely surrounded by another country/state.)
In 2015, the two countries finally reaches an agreement to simplify the border. More than 150 territories were swapped. The citizens living in these enclaves were given a choice to choose the country they want to live in.
Most of the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh border is based on the Radcliffe line (named after its architect Sir Cyril Radcliffe).
