1. Lucknow

The capital of Uttar Pradesh is the largest city in Uttar Pradesh by population. During the last census, the city had a population of over 28 lakhs (2.8 million). Known for its monuments and culture, Lucknow is also one of the largest cities in India by area and is constantly pushing its boundaries.

2. Kanpur

Kanpur is the second-largest city in Uttar Pradesh by population. Located along the banks of the Ganges, Kanpur is a major industrial and military town. In the last census, Kanpur recorded a population of nearly 28 lakhs (2.8 million).

3. Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad is a city on the Delhi-UP border. Being a part of NCR (National Capital Region), Ghaziabad is a fast-growing city. During the last census, the city had a population of 16.5 lakhs (1.65 million)

Prayagraj district, in which Prayagraj city is located, is the most populous district in Uttar Pradesh.

8. Bareilly

Bareilly is a major city in the Rohilkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. The city has a population of over 9 lakhs.

9. Moradabad

Another city on this list from western Uttar Pradesh, Moradabad is a large city on the banks of the Ramganga river. During the last census, the city had a population of about 9 lakhs (0.9 million).

10. Aligarh

Aligarh is a city in western Uttar Pradesh just 160 kilometers from the National capital Delhi. The city has a population of over 8.75 lakhs.
